I have declared 2014 the year of YES! Good things are coming.
But, like most things worth working toward, the path there is never direct. What I’ve come to realize over years of writing, revising, retreating, and listening (yes, listening) is that my writing journey is much like the switch-backs on a mountain. (For the non-hikers out there – a switch-back is a hiking trail that winds in a zig-zag formation up the mountain.) Now, while I’m definitely more a direct-route-less-snake-back-and-forth kind of gal, I’ve learned there’s much to be gained from a switch-back. While the path is not direct, it is often beautiful and lined with unexpected gems.
So, on my journey to YES!, there have been wonderful moments along the way. Moments I would neither have had nor appreciated if I hadn’t been winding my way down. Sometimes you have to travel past your goal in order to actually achieve it. Happy trails!
